Our Vision
Our vision is to help all Central Ohio men and their families become more informed about prostate cancer, better informed about treatment options for the disease, and encourage men to seek early screening. COMAPC provides prostate cancer education, outreach and support for men, the friends and families of at-risk men, and those already diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Our Mission
Central Ohio Men Against Prostate Cancer (COMAPC) is a community-based, voluntary, non-profit organization. Our mission is to increase prostate cancer awareness and routine screening through education, support, and advocacy across cultural and economic barriers. Our primary focus is to reduce disparities that exist in prostate cancer among minorities and the medically underserved.
Our History
COMAPC was founded in 2004 by a small, community-minded group of men who originally called themselves the Central Ohio Hackers, for their love of the game of golf. The group joined the international, grassroots organization US TOO, which was started in 1990 by prostate cancer survivors to support prostate cancer patients, their spouses/partners and their families. In 2007, the Central Ohio Hackers changed their name to the Central Ohio Men Against Prostate Cancer (COMAPC), and registered with the State of Ohio and the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.
Resources
COMAPC provides access to education, outreach and support for men, the friends and families of at-risk men and those diagnosed with prostate cancer. We know there is extensive medical information available online and through healthcare providers. Our goal is to help people connect with resources that can help you become more aware of prostate cancer, better informed about treatment options and support men to seek early screening for prostate cancer.
